Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Celebrates the Launch of Anatolian Culinary Showcase with Guest Chefs from Shangri-La Istanbul

Kuala Lumpur, 21 July 2026 – Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur hosted the launch of its limited-time Anatolian Culinary Showcase, running from 20 July to 14 August 2026 at Lemon Garden, bringing together distinguished guests, partners and members of the media for an evening celebrating the rich culinary traditions of Türkiye.

The showcase welcomes Guest Chefs Murat Arslantaş and Yunus Emre Şengüler from Shangri-La Istanbul in Türkiye, who bring the authentic flavours of Anatolia to Kuala Lumpur through a specially curated dining experience inspired by the region’s rich heritage, traditional cooking techniques and culture of shared dining.

The launch event was graced by His Excellency Nevzat Uyanık, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malaysia, His Excellency Irfan Davudov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Malaysia, Mr Mustafa Kemal Kizilay, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Kuala Lumpur, and Mr Mohamad Libra Lee Haniff, Director of International Promotions, Tourism Malaysia. The event was also attended by distinguished representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, Turkish Airlines, Tourism Malaysia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, alongside members of the media.

The evening commenced with a welcome address by Mr Daniel Kaeflein, General Manager of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, who highlighted the importance of culinary experiences in connecting cultures and creating meaningful moments for guests.

His Excellency Nevzat Uyanık, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malaysia, shared his appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the important role of gastronomy in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening connections between Türkiye and Malaysia.

The launch continued with a presentation by Turkish Airlines, introducing its products and services, complemented by a promotional video showcasing Türkiye’s rich culture, heritage and travel experiences. As the official airline partner supporting this collaboration, Turkish Airlines continues to connect travellers to Türkiye
through its extensive network and renowned hospitality.

Guests were then introduced to the visiting chefs by the hotel’s Executive Chef Eric Fettke, followed by a culinary showcase featuring the expertise and traditional cooking techniques of the Turkish culinary team. The official launch ceremony concluded with a special dish presentation, group photo session and gift exchange between representatives of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Malaysia and Turkish Airlines.

The evening concluded with an exclusive media dining experience at Lemon Garden, where guests were invited to savour the flavours of Anatolia through a carefully curated menu prepared by Guest Chefs Murat Arslantaş and Yunus Emre Şengüler.

The showcase begins with a selection of traditional cold mezze, including smooth Hummus, vibrant Ezme and smoky Mutabbal, followed by comforting Turkish soups. At the heart of the menu is the Charcoal Grill Selection, featuring favourites such as Adana Kebab, Chicken Şiş, Lamb Chops and Hatay Tray Kebab, each prepared using traditional recipes and charcoal grilling techniques that are synonymous with Turkish cuisine. The experience is complemented by coastal-inspired seafood dishes, fragrant Ottoman Spiced Rice, freshly baked Lavaş and traditional Pide, before concluding with classic Turkish desserts including Künefe, Baked Milk Helva (Süt Helvası) and Almond Keşkül.

Available from 20 July to 14 August 2026, the Anatolian Culinary Showcase offers both an à la carte lunch menu featuring a selection of authentic Turkish specialities and an extensive buffet dinner at Lemon Garden.

This collaboration is supported by Turkish Airlines, strengthening cultural and culinary ties between Türkiye and Malaysia. In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, the showcase reflects Kuala Lumpur’s growing role as a destination for international culinary experiences and meaningful cultural exchange.

In addition to the buffet dinner, guests may also enjoy an à la carte lunch menu showcasing a selection of authentic Turkish dishes.
